Pind daan and Tarpan as per Hindu belief is a ritual to offer homage to the departed soul. Haridwar is one of the holiest city in the Hindu religion. Giving Pind Daan and Tarpan near the banks of the river is really counted as holy and also known to provide mosh to the departed souls.
Pind daan is done after taking a bath. It is required to wear white holy clothes during shradh karma like traditional dhotis, kurta, etc. Pind daan is done offering rice, jaggery, sweets, etc under the guidance and mantras of brahmins.
