Goddess Narmada is known as the daughter of Lord Shiva. Narmada is one of the most spiritual and holy river. Narmada mata abhishek puja is a ritual of worshipping river Narmada by offering her a sacred bath with various materials. It is a way of expressing gratitude and devotion to Narmada mata and seeking her blessings for purification and prosperity. Narmada mata abhishek puja can be performed at any place where the river flows, but the most auspicious place is Omkareshwar Jyotirling temple and Mamleshwar Jyotirling , where the river forms an island shaped like Om.
At first the sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Than the mantras are chanted and the abhishek of Mata Narmada is done with milk, flowers etc. Than water is offered to Narmada Mata along with mantras and at last aarti is done of Mata Narmada and her blessings are taken.
