Mangal Bhat puja is performed by people who have mangal dosh or mangalik dosh in their horoscope.Mangal dosh is a condition when Mars is placed in the first, fourth, seventh, eighth or twelfth house of the birth chart. This can cause problems in marriage, health, finances and relationships. Mangal Bhat Puja is a process of worshipping Mangal with rice and other offerings. Mangal bhat puja is done to appease Mars and reduce its negative effects.
At first sankalp is taken in the name of the devotee for whom the puja is done. Than the puja of Lord Ganesh is done who is known as remover of the obstacles. Than the nav grah’s (nine planets) are worshipped. Than the puja of Mangal grah is done and it is worshipped with kumkum, sindoor etc. along with the the mantras are chanted. After than Bhat(rice) is offered to Lord Mangal along with fruits and sweets. At last the blessings of all the God’s are taken.
