Savitri Temple

The Sacitri Temple is located in the Ratnagiri hill in the city of Pushkar Rajasthan. The temple is dedicated to Mata Savitri who is the first wife of Lord Brahma. In this temple you will find the idols of both the wives of Lord Brahma named Savitri and Gayatri. But as per tradition Goddess Savitri is always worshipped first and then prayers to Goddess Gayatri are offered. Mata Gayatri is know as the second wife of Lord Brahma. According to the legend, Lord Brahma was performed a Yagna at Pushkar where his wife Saraswati could not reach on time. Hence, in order to perform the pooja in time, Lord Brahma completed the ritual with the help of a local girl, Gayatri- who then became the second wife of Brahma.
