Shri Hanuman Garhi Mandir

Hanuman Garhi is temple situated in the city of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. Built during the 10th century this temple is one of the most important temple in the city. There is a custom that is followed by the devotees visiting Ayodhya which is that to first pay the visit to the Hanuman Garhi temple and than to the Ram Mandir. The temple houses Hanuman's mother, Anjani, with a young Hanuman sitting on her lap.This shrine is under the charge of Bairagi Mahants of Ramanandi Sampradaya and Nirvani Akhara. Hanuman Garhi temple is located near Ram Janmabhoomi. In 1855, the Nawab of Awadh saved the temple from destruction by a group of Muslims who thought Hanumangarhi had been built over a mosque.
