Vibhishan Temple

Located at a distance of 16 kilometres from Rameswaram, The temple is the only historical structure to survive the 1964 cyclone that washed away Dhanushkodi. The temple has the deities of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, Hanuman and Vibhishana. The temple is surrounded by sea and remains a tourist attraction.The temple is estimated to have been constructed about 500-1000 years ago. It is the same place where Lord Ram crowned Vibhisan as the King o Lanka after the Ramayana war. Also it is the only temple in the world to be dedicated to Rawan's brother Vibhisan.
