Jal means water and Abhishek means offering of Holy liquids to the Divine represented as the Lingam which opens new paths by destroying ego and false identification with one’s material existence. Mahadev is Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram or Truth, Goodness and beauty that cannot be surpassed.
Devotees have to carry water in a tumbler to do abhishek of the Shivling. First sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees and than the jal abhishek of Lord Shiva is done.
