About
Panchamrut Abhishek is a Hindu ritual where the god idols are bathed with panchamrut. It is performed at temples and at homes. Mantras are chanted throughout the process and once the pooja commences, the charnamrut is distributed as prasad. Rudrashtadhyayi is made of two words Rudra means Shiva and Ashtadhyayi means one with eight chapters, Shiva is included in these eight chapters. Although there are total ten chapters in Rudrashtadhyayi, but only eight are considered main.Rudrashtadhyayi is a part of Yajurveda and Vedas have been described as the best scriptures. Vedas are parts of Shiva only.
Devotees must observe a strict fast throughout the day and consume milk and fruits during the day, if absolutely necessary. At first sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees than the Panchamrut mantra is done along with the abhishek.
